CSS provides:
  • continuous monitoring of container integrity and location;
  • execution of emergency actions with the secured container both automatically and upon the system operator's command;
  • collection, classification and storage of container data;
  • real-time data presentation to the operator or other authorized users.
Container security system is built as a three-layer system. The first layer is the security layer. It comprises mobile security devices (MSD) that are placed at the secured container.
The second layer is the information layer that represents a server network, in which all the data about both the secured containers and the users of the system is stored.
The third layer is the user layer. It consists of numerous terminal programs that serve to provide system users with access to the data, which is contained in the system servers.
Layers two and three constitute the network operations center (NOC). The elements of the NOC are interconnected via Internet channels. Mobile security devices are connected with system servers through the wireless channels of mobile providers.

Mobile security device (MSD)

MSD comprises the processor unit with integrated and external sensors and the power supply unit.
MSD provides:
  • positioning of the secured container using the GPS receiver;
  • monitoring of the container interior using integrated volumetric sensor;
  • detection of container motion or impacts against the container using the purpose sensor (the accelerometer;
  • detection of door opening using the contact sensor;
  • monitoring of additional parameters of the secured container, depending on the model of the security module;
  • initial processing and forwarding of control data to the system database.

At customer's request, MSD can be fitted with additional sensors and actuators.
The period of self-contained operation of the module depends on the performed tasks and operating conditions and lasts from 3 months to 1 year.

System servers

The Server provides:
  • collection, processing, storage and presentation of data to system users regarding the location and status of the secured containers;
  • collection, storage and issuing the commands to the modules by system operators.
Data communication between the database and other elements of the system is handled by two dedicated server programs.

Terminals for operators and authorized users

Two terminal types are employed in the system. The first type is the dedicated authorized program installed on the user PC. The other is the web page accessible from any computer that is connected to the Internet.

The operator's computer has the special Terminal program installed. The program provides small data sizes and high transfer speed.

Authorized users can access the system from any computer without any specialized software, using general Internet browsers.

Notifications about events occurring to the secured container can be delivered as SMS messages to the mobile phone of the user.
The software allows for implementation of any new functions in the system while in service.

Communication

The data is transferred via public mobile networks, but the transfer is safely protected by the advanced security facilities. Data access on the system is only granted to authorized users.
Server communicates with MSD using the mobile GSM network. Satellite communication will be implemented in prospect.
Communication between other system elements is maintained over Internet channels.
Communication with the security module is established in periodic sessions. Besides, in case of emergency event, extra communication session is initiated by MSD.
Time of delivery of message about the detected emergency event depends on the specifics of mobile communications and is between 20 seconds to 1 minute.
During communication session, the server automatically sends operator commands to the security module.

All layers of the security container system are solidly secured against unauthorized access to the information and control of the mobile security devices by using the up-to-date data protection techniques and implementing a simple but flexible policy for managing user access to the security system functions
